Great White

So this video is so amazing that it gets its own post. (it doesn't count as part of the four post series)

As everyone was standing in front of the glass I kept hearing people guessing at which shark they thought was the great white. But what was so cool was when she passed by the viewing window everyone knew that that was her.

LOVE IT!

Monterey Bay Aquarium Pt. 2

So it is looking like the Monterey Bay Aquarium will end up in four parts. I just took hundreds of pictures and I want to share them all! So I'm trying to just post my favorites, but that is still a ton of pictures.

So with that intro, here is the second installment of images and fun aquarium stuff :)

Here is Jami and J looking into one of the largest tanks which is called the Outer Bay. This is where they have the sharks and the really big tuna and that type of stuff.

This was just fascinating! This is a big case of Squid eggs. So cool

I love looking at all the Jellyfish that they had there. There is just something about them that is so mesmerizing.

These were really cool Jellyfish. I loved their crazy mixes of color. They are called Egg Yolk Jellyfish

I stepped out onto a little pier outside and was enjoying to see the waves and watching the fog and then out in the bay there was a pod of dolphins! Just swimming right out there :)

There were these amazing touch-pools with so much cool stuff in them. Here J is 'petting' a starfish

And here J is touching one of the Kelp leaves with the help of Uncle Mike

These are some weird fish that are related to a squid. They're called Cuttle Fish

Monterey Bay Aquarium Pt. 1 - The Secret Lives of Seahorses

So I took like tons and tons and tons of pictures at the aquarium so I decided it might be a bit easier if I split this up.

Well it started off really foggy. Which Mike and I thought was pretty cool, because we get our mountain fog here but it's nothing like the ocean fog down there.

When we first entered the aquarium they had this cool seahorse exhibition called "The Secret Lives of Seahorses" which I am dedicating this first post to

They had the really cute baby seahorses that were at the perfect height for Jackson to peek into

There was this Seahorse that they had for people to stand around and take pictures with. The creepy part is that it's a male seahorse giving birth!

Nolan had lots of fun with his Uncle Mike!

Happy Halloween!

So I know that I need to post my pictures from my totally wonderful and fabulous California trip, but my adorable puppies win the cake on the post.

So here are Brody and Tayla all dressed up for Halloween :)

You might be able to guess that Tayla is a fairy and Brody is a robot.

Though I didn't take them Trick-or-Treating at all, they still got some of the most amazing treats ever for wearing this :)

At the vet they had given me a bag of homemade peanut butter cookies for dogs so they got a bunch of those and some other amazing goodies :) Crazy what bribery will do

Puppy Class

Here are some of the cutest videos of Tayla in her puppy class! There are four other puppies in the class. Cooper is a cocker spaniel, the littlest one is Zoey, a Chihuahua -Dachshund mix. The other two puppies get scared of others so in off leash play time they are behind a little baby gate. There is a Husky and a lab.

Just the most cutest ever!

After Brody, I think that I deserved a puppy like Tayla. She has had maybe four accidents in the house in the last three weeks. She doesn't chew on anything she isn't supposed to and she isn't a crazy little monster choking herself on the leash. What an angel :)

(But it's only been three weeks so far)

The Little Munchkins

Tayla is doing so fabulous! Her and Brody have become such cute friends

She loves to just follow him everywhere and pretty much tries to tackle him all the time.

And when they go outside it is just hysterical because Brody loves to stand and sniff through the fence and Tayla loves to run headfirst into him :)

She's Home!

Our little Tayla has now come home to stay! She is just so precious and cute!

The little headgear she is wearing will hold her ears up so that the cartilage in her ears will harder upright giving her that doberman look.

I'll post more pictures once everything gets a little more settled and it's not so crazy late at night with a puppy, a dog, and a hubby waiting to cuddle with me :)

The Bad Rap

So I know that Dobermans are known to be aggressive. Almost everyone who we tell that we are getting a Doberman looks very scared for us and tells us "Well, ok, I guess. Those are just really hard dogs and you have to be so careful with them" or something like that. You can see it in their eyes that they see the breed as a mean one and think we are making a bad choice.

I guess I just want people to understand that this dog does not deserve the bad rap that they have been given so I am posting some of my favorite YouTube videos of Dobermans.

This guy who does these first two has had his dogs become a small YouTube sensation. He has a Doberman and a Chihuahua. The two dogs have been on TV twice now. They are pretty funny :)

If you want to see more of his YouTube videos, they are at http://www.youtube.com/user/cwdressen

This lady is just showing off how gentle her dog is, which is cute :)

These next two videos are from this breeder that I wish that I could afford :)
(We decided 3 grand was just a bit too much for a dog)

Their dogs are fully trained personal protectors, but these videos show the dogs with the kids. They also have live video feeds of their current litters which I just happen to watch maybe a little too much

www.familydobes.com

The boy in this next video is the same in the previous one, just two years later. My favorite part doesn't really start till half way through when instead of around the yard the kids are walking the dog in a Home Depot and then a PetsMart:)

So anyway, these are just some of my favorite videos and I guess I don't know how to say this without being preachy, but I feel very strong about not judging the breed but the people who own the dog.

I hate breed banning legislation, like with how Pit Bulls are illegal in Denver now, and maybe one day I'll blog a rant and rave about that, but for now just know that I am 110% positive that Mike's and I will have a Doberman just as sweet and fun loving as Brody :) :)

Heston

Well Kaytee sent me this video and I've been trying to convince her to post something about Heston and how smart he is, but she's taking too long! :)

So here is a very adorable video Kaytee took, though it was with her cell phone so that's why it's just a little shaky

Heston is just so smart and learning so fast :)

First Comes Love, Then Comes Marriage......

And then comes another puppy!!

Yes that's right, we decided to get another puppy :)

We are getting a Doberman! I know! It's so exciting :) :)

So we start with the picture from July 11th, the day that our new little girl was born

The mother's name is Foxy and the father is Gino. Though there were several of the red dobermans born, we are getting the classic Black and Rust color.
Then here are the puppies at 1 day old

Now we don't know which of the girls will be ours because the breeders are going to be keeping one of the Black and Rust girls. So when they are about 5 weeks old they are getting genetically tested and microchipped and all that jazz.

And here are the pups at 5 days old

We are working with our work schedules to see when to go pick up the puppy. It's going to be either the 5th or the 12th of September. And for the first 6 weeks or so after we get her the pictures will look ridiculous because she will have this headgear on. It is to get the cartilage in her ears to stand up and give her that Doberman look.

Here are the puppies at 6 days old. As you can see, they've already had their tails docked.

The name that we are partial to at the moment is Tayla, anyone else know some good doggie names?

More Honeymoon :)

So here are some more Honeymoon pics.

We went to this amazing Luau! It was called Germaine's Luau and I recommend anyone going to Waikiki should definitely do this!

We start out with this gorgeous view of the lighthouse as we step off the bus.

Now there were like 500 or so people there, but the way we were all seated it didn't really feel that way. It was just so much fun and we had met some fun couples there. As it was time to get ready to watch them pull the 12 pigs out of the pit in the ground, they had the guy blowing the conch, which was way cool

They then had to reach in to throw all these really hot rocks off the pigs in the pit.

Then they pulled the first pig out of the pit. If you look close you can see just how tender it was because the meat is completely off the bones. You can tell by the pig skull just sitting on top of the meat.

Now they couldn't just send 500 people up to eat at once, so they were sending them table by table. While waiting for our table to go, they had some fun entertainment up on stage. Three guys were pulled from the audience and they got to go up on stage and show off their hula skills.

Watch the guy in Purple, it's no surprise that he won :)

There were tons and tons and tons of different dances. They were all from the different Polynesian islands. So here are just a few movies of those dancers.

And then the fire dancer was waaay cool!

So for some more pictures!
We came across this sign and just cracked up!

And the best part was that there was this old lady sitting up on the porch glaring at us as if we were going to step on the 'grass'

And then there were just these gorgeous flowers growing along the sidewalks. Here is a fabulous Bird of Paradise in bloom

Then at night there are just these beautiful sunsets over the water.

One of the most gorgeous parts of the island that we saw was in Hanauma Bay. We got there at like 8 in the morning so that it wouldn't be too crazy busy. We walked about all the way down to the far end of the bay because we knew it wouldn't be as packed because it was more rocky than sandy.

Since we had been there an entire week and not been sunburned, I think that we had gotten a little careless on lathering in sunscreen because we both burned pretty icky :(

This picture of me at the park you can see wear the strap on my swimsuit has moved and see the burn.

And then at the hotel room when I went to put Aloe on Mike you can really see how burned he got! I started to write my name in Aloe, but he wasn't a fan, so only the A and L are on his back :)

That night we went out to a really fancy restaurant for dinner. It was soooooo delicious! And though the seats right on the ocean were all booked, we were still only three tables in, so here is a picture of the view from where we were sitting.

We had the waiter take our picture, and now the burns are really noticeable. At least this didn't happen till the last day of the trip! However, the plane ride back was not comfy at all with such burns :(
