Double Post

I'm just a little behind in getting all my posts up, so this post covers two very different events in January :)

First let's start with the fabulous birthday day that we had this year. On January 20th Brody turned 1 year old. He had a very fun filled day full of playing with his best dog friend Toby as the weather was gorgeous (50 degrees). Since it was so warm they got to play outside all day.
Then he got the most amazing and delicious dinner. It was this really fancy pouch dog food that actually comes in a very large pouch (13 ounces) which was full of veggies and meat and rice. He LOVED it :)

And we can't forget the cute little hat. I couldn't find an actual 'Happy Birthday' Hat, so instead, he's wearing a hat with Mater on it. He was gettting lots of treats for wearing this, so he didn't complain at all :)

Next was my exciting day in Surgery! But don't worry, I wasn't the one going under the knife, but the one holding it (well maybe that could make some people worry).
In my Animal Physiology class we get to implant a rat with a transmitter so I can keep track of its internal temperature over the next month. My cute little rat's name is Petey (short for Patricia) and she was a very good patient.
I weighed her to determine the amount of anestetics she was getting and then shave her belly where the inscision was going to be.

The only part my stomach did some little flips was the very first inscision, but after that I was good. I cut through the skin and then the muscle and poked the trasmitter in. The transmitter was a lot bigger than I had first expected. It looked a lot like quite a large macadamian nut. I tied it to a muscle, which seemed weird, but the TA said that otherwise when I go in to retireve it in a month I won't be able to find it. Then I stitched back up the muslce, then the skin and she was good to go.

You can see the gorgeous stitching job that I did. I definitely have a new respect for surgeons. I was bent over that thing for an hour and it was not only stressful but extremely hard on my back. I don't know how those guys go in for like 8-hour surgeries.

On the very positive side, the next day in class my teacher said that all the rats were doing fine and running around like normal, so she lived! I made it through my first surgery!

Christmas

So.... Yeah, this post is a little late, but I guess better late than never!!

So this was the first christmas that Mike and I had together. And we went home to my parents. On Christmas Eve we all got matching superman jammies. The glow-in-the-dark on Mike's shirt is so intense! Just in a shadow you can see it glow!

But he loves the jammies and being part of the fam :)
If you look close at Brody's head, you can see a pair of antlers on his head. Though in the picture Brody doesn't look to happy in his antlers. It was easier when he was looking at me and I had a treat right in front of him. He's not as big of fan when he can't see me, so he looks grumpy :(

Then when Mike and I got back to Laramie the night of Christmas Day, we had our first Christmas dinner. So looking through the fridge, we decided the two things that we were the most hungry for.

Yep, fried SPAM and Pigs in a Blanket :)
We were both very happy and satisfied with this delicious meal (as crazy as that sounds...)

Different Video

So that last video just didn't give these two justice. Sometimes it just seems that when they see the camera they settle down and just stare at me. This one really shows how crazy this kitty is and how patient Brody is with all her oboxiousness

My two cuties

So here are some more pictures of Brody and Malibou. Thought you guys would enjoy some of these because they are just so cute!

And I even added in a video of the two of them playing

My favorite part is seeing how good Brody is with her

This last picture I just love. This is the field just right outside my back door that I take Brody out and let him run and play. Mike took this picture from the back steps of the trailer.

The other thing I LOVE about this picture is that it looks like Brody just walks right next to me off leash :)

Brody and Malibou

So these two little guys are getting along quite wonderfully which makes me sooooooo happy :) :)
One really cute thing between them is that Malibou does not like drinking out of her water bowl, but will run all the way over to Brody's and drink out of it pretty much every time. Its really adorable :)

The two of them will occasionaly cuddle up together which is also really cute.

But the funniest is when Brody had fallen asleep and then shifted, completely forgetting that Malibou was cuddled up with him and next we just hear her mowling and Brody still oblivious and dead asleep. He's still learning.

Announcing my new little Malibou :)

So craziest thing happened today. My soon to be Sister-in-Law just got a kitten last week and it turns out that her little girl Ivy (who is 3) is SUPER allergic and got an infection and it was so sad. So anyways, they were going to give this little kitty to the pound when my roomie Nicki said that we could take her. Soooooooooo now I have a little kitty! Her name is Malibou and she is only 9 weeks old and teeny tiny!

If you look on the dusty shelf above her you to the left you can make out one of Brody's paw prints. HUGE next to her :)

Her and Brody are still kinda working the kinks out. Brody just wants to tackle and play with her and she is not quite up for that yet. So he does manage to sit there and just watch her, though I know if I wasn't there he probably wouldn't be so controlled. Until she gets a little bigger, they will probably both be crated while we are gone.

and p.s. the reason that the blinds in my last post go from horrid to fabulous is because Mike was amazing and installed the new blinds between the pictures, and as you can see, those old ones just HAD to go! He's just so good to me :) :)

My little baby is growing up :)

Here is an adorable picture with Mike and Brody cuddling, watching TV. And Brody is just getting so BIG!! I figure he is pretty much full grown with just a bit more to fill in. Of course, I said this a few months ago and he kept getting taller so..... I am pretty sure this is about it.

So around my trailer park there are at least 7 stray cats around that I've seen. And since my porch railing goes right up to the window, the cats love to walk around it and then just sit there and look inside. Brody is hysterical with this cuz he sneaks up to the window and just stares at them the WHOLE time they sit there. Mike and I just laugh and can't help but take tons of pictures.

Then the other day we went down to the river since the weather has been gorgeous lately! Like abot 60 degrees every day. It's soooooo fabulous. But down at the river things were very muddy and I decided to jump in with him and we both came back home very very very muddy. This is Brody just at the begining of playing in the mud, needed to put the camera away for obvious reasons. It was a great afternoon :) :)
